Yangshuo, China

Flashing back to my second visit to China last April. I started at Zhangjiajie with a mission to find Pandora ( coming soon on the blog ) then I went to Yangshuo for 3 days - which was honestly too short but I managed to take a bamboo raft ride on the Yulong river and spent the whole afternoon exploring the Yangshuo County.

While Yangshuo and Zhangjiajie are obviously beautiful, but my highlight of the trip was definitely meeting a lot of nice people that helped me getting from one place to another. Started from Thai couple I met on the bus to Zhangjiajie, to my amazing taxi driver, security guards at the bank and bus stations, another random couple and maybe about 10 Chinese people I ran into in Guilin when I couldn't find my hostel and lost for an hour. Thanks to these strangers for being extremely nice and warm, just when I thought I'd never make it. Traveling to China can be a little challenging if you don't speak Mandarin, but thank goodness learning Chinese at university did actually help. Pheww.

Where to stay ?
I stayed with Wada Hostel

How to get to Yangshuo from Guilin city ?
There are frequent minibuses and express buses to Yangshuo. From Wada Hostel walk to Guilin railway station, about 5-7 min walk. While there are minibuses depart from the square in front of Guilin railway station ( 80-90 min, RMB22 ), you can also go to the bus station which about another 5-10 min walk from the railway station and buy the tickets from counter inside terminal.

Invariably touts will try to sell you a more expensive ticket, just ignore them and keep walking to Guilin bus terminal. Buses depart every half hour and take about one and a half hour journey.
Most buses  will arrive at North bus station, you can talk public buses or walk for about 15-20 min to Yangshuo county. Best way to explore new places and exercise too !
